Welcome to Portsmouth Disability Forum

Portsmouth Disability Forum (PDF) is a User Led local non political lobbying and campaigning group recognized by Portsmouth City Council and the Primary Care Trust among many others as a consultative User Led disability group within Portsmouth.

Our aim is to promote the care, welfare, interest, education and advancement of disabled people their families and personal assistants and their independence and inclusion within the community of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. We work with service providers and other disability organisations to ensure that disabled people get the same rights and facilities as everyone else.

Portsmouth Disability Forum is home to the following services:

  • Portsmouth Independent Support (IS)

    Provides support and advice to parents, children and young people 0-25 years with SEND (Special Educational Needs and disabilities) on the conversion to the new Education, Health and Care Plans  http://www.portsmouthis.org.uk
  • The Frank Sorrell Centre

    Frank Sorrell Centre providing fully accessible office and conference room facilities for up to 50 people with onsite parking, contact us for a full list of who works here, the services provided and groups that meet here.
  • Dynamite

    Dynamite is a project where young people can be involved in changing how disabled services are designed for children and young people in Portsmouth http://www.dynamiteportsmouth.org.uk/


  • DIAL

    Disability Information Advice Line, a free impartial, confidential service, supplying information and advice on disability related topics, also enabling individuals to complete disability related forms.
  • Shopmobility

    Shopmobility operates a hiring scheme (powered scooters, power chairs, manual wheelchairs and holiday vehicles) to members of the public (young or old, whether their disability is temporary or permanent) with limited mobility, enabling them to to visit shops and leisure facilities. www.portsmouthshopmobility.org

  • Portsmouth Parent Voice (PPV)

    PPV is part of the voluntary sector and is supported by the Local Authority and the DfE. PPV is for you, the parent carer of a child or young person with an additional or special need and/or disability; aged from 0 - 25 years old, to voice your opinions on what you would like for your child or young person www.portsmouthparentvoice.org
