One City Many Abilities (OCMA)

This guide to disability awareness is the sister publication to the award winning One City Many Cultures.

This guide has been written and produced by a partnership of Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth Disability Forum, Portsmouth Adult and Family Learning and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Learning and Skills Council. It has been written in consultation with various representative disability groups across the city and Hampshire.

The aim is to provide information which will help council employees and those from other organisations to become more aware of the needs of disabled people. It will also help them meet the service delivery requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

The guide is the first of a two part approach to raising disability awareness. The second part is to promote the formation of a Disability Consortium to deliver disability awareness training, linked to the guide.
